Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Practice Exam

FEMA is responsible for managing the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and PAL status is an important factor in determining flood insurance rates. In order for a levee to receive a PAL status, the community must provide documentation of the levee's compliance with NFIP regulations. FEMA does not directly certify PAL status or provide funding for levee construction. Additionally, FEMA's role does not include monitoring and repairing levees directly. Their role is to oversee the NFIP and ensure that communities are in compliance with regulations.
